Through DUSA, we are promoting inclusivity and cultural diversity to all students in Deakin by encouraging international students to celebrate and share their culture. We aim to make international students feel welcomed by garnering a sense of community, providing network opportunities, and raising awareness on issues concerning international students.
This campaign focuses on a series of events to welcome international students and allow them to be more comfortable spending their campus lives.
Twibbon
A twibbon is a type of filter or frame that can be used to post pictures on social media. DUSA will be providing some twibbon designs according to the faculties in Deakin University, so commencing students can use them as a way to identify themself and wear them as a pride badge.
We will also ask them to post it on their social media along with the hashtag #HomeAwayFromHome and the hashtag of their faculty i.e. #DeakinArtsandEdu2023, #DeakinHealth2023, #DeakinLaw2023, etc. This will allow other international students to find each other by clicking the hashtag.
The aim is for them to get to know each other before O'Week so they will feel less alone in navigating the preparation for arrival in Australia. Despite putting this on the Instagram section, the twibbon can be used through any social media platforms available, and could also be used as a profile picture as it indicates the student’s identity as a Deakin student.
